First-Year (Freshman) Applicants
First-year merit scholarships are based on both academic and extracurricular achievement.
Academic:
- Official High School Transcript
Extracurricular:
- Work (part-time or summer jobs)
- Volunteerism or community engagement
- Family responsibilities
- School/community clubs/organizations
- Other experiences that have been meaningful to you

Other First-Year (Freshman) Scholarship Opportunities:
Note: These scholarships are supplemental to our other first-year merit awards.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (all GPAs will be converted to a 4.0 scale)
- Incoming first-year students may receive the Tuition Scholarship for up to eight semesters.
- Student's permanent address must be in a U.S. state outside of New Jersey, or Puerto Rico, and not eligible for in-state tuition.
- Students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment and a 3.0 cumulative ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ University GPA to renew the award.
- Student must reside in on-campus housing to maintain this award.
Amount:$8,258/year^
- Must have applied and been admitted as an international student.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (all GPAs will be converted to a 4.0 scale)
- Incoming first-year students may receive the scholarship for up to eight semesters.
- Students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment and a 3.0 cumulative ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ University GPA to renew the award.
- Student must reside in on-campus housing to maintain this award.

Transfer Applicants
Excellence in Academics Award
- Must have 16 or more earned, transferable, non-basic skills credits from a regionally accredited undergraduate institution.
- Cumulative GPA minimum: 3.4
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions will be used to calculate cumulative GPA.
- New transfer applicants only; students applying for readmission or first-year applicants do not qualify.

Defined and administered by the State of New Jersey
Amount: up to $2,500/year
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher (all GPAs will be converted to a 4.0 scale)
- Incoming Transfer students may receive the Tuition Scholarship for up to six semesters, depending on the number of credits transferred to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½.
- Student's permanent address must be in a U.S. state outside of New Jersey, or Puerto Rico, and not eligible for in-state tuition.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Foundation Scholarships
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ University Foundation maintains a robust merit-based scholarship program with approximately 200 scholarships. These scholarships are made possible thanks to the generous donations of alumni, friends of the university, organizations and businesses.
Open to current ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ students, the Foundation Scholarship program honors the institution’s highest achieving, most deserving students. Recipients are chosen annually by the Presidential-appointed ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ University Scholarship Selection Committee, and the program is administered by the Office of Development & Alumni Relations.
The 2025-2026 Foundation Scholarship application will open January 2025.
